Rev. John McCrosky
Interim Pastor
Rev. John McCrosky grew up in Orange Park, FL, and is a lifelong Presbyterian. He met his wife, Catherine, at Winthrop University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1993. After a summer of directing a Presbyterian camp in North Carolina, John moved to Richmond, VA, to study at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (Now part of Union Presbyterian Seminary) the following year. Catherine and John married in 1994. After receiving his master’s degree, John served churches in Georgia, Colorado, and the Carolinas. John also spends a number of years working with underprivileged youth and their families in Jacksonville, FL, through the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Duval County School System.
John has many years of experience working in Northeast Georgia Presbytery, where he was the Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries at Covenant Presbyterian in Augusta. He also served on the Presbytery Youth Council as an adult advisor for a number of years. In 2018, John said goodbye to his friends at Covenant to begin his studies at Columbia Theological Seminary, where he spent four years receiving two additional master’s degrees: a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Practical Theology with an emphasis on pastoral care.
Catherine and John have one child, Sam, who will begin studies at Georgia College in January after spending a gap year interning at a civil engineering firm.
John comes to us from Monticello, GA where he just completed an interim position. Some comments he received as he gave his last words to the session included:
“Thank you for all your hard work and dedication steering us through the past year. You have been a tremendous blessing, an answered prayer, a caring friend, and a strong and compassionate leader.”
“Thank you for giving us your heart. I was new to the whole “interim pastor” concept and must admit I had my doubts and even considered looking at other churches. But your heart and attitude toward God and MPC changed my mind, and I’m grateful and thankful the Lord used you that way.”
The McCroskys love getting out in nature and exploring creation. They also love trying new foods, meeting fun people, and finding treasures in vintage and antique shops.
